John McCain’s 1st Ad - “Safe”

6 06 2008

John McCain’s campaign released their first advertisement of the general election today, which focuses on his national security credentials. It does set the tone of the debate in a very clear light, simply that John McCain is a war hero and Barack Obama is inexperienced.

The ad will be on the air in 54 media markets in 10 states: Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. This is a clear signal of John McCain’s campaign strategy moving forward, although other states will undoubtedly be added and subtracted as the situation warrants.

Keep an eye out for Obama’s first general election ad and in which states it airs. The candidate and the DNC have both discussed their “50 State Strategy” for quite some time, so it will be interesting to see if they follow through with that plan or move towards a battleground state strategy.
